The Men of Jesus Christ sponsor events in the Western New York Area that are for men to participate in, to gain strength in their faith and take back their role as leader, protector, and provider. The MOJC men's night are a mini retreat for men that heal and inspire men through a presentation and the sacraments. The main focus of a men's night is to provide the Eucharist to men while providing an opportunity to achieve a state of grace. We live in a world filled with challenges especially in regards to our purity. We have encountered many men who struggle with chastity and we wanted to give them an opportunity to receive our Lord by offering confession and Mass all in one event but also gain wisdom and understanding through a thought provoking talk. A typical men's night breakdown:
- Confession and adoration
- A presentation or talk pertaining directly to men
- Mass
- Fellowship (usually with beer and snacks)
"Virtuocity unplugged" in a spin off from the men's nights. During the fellowship portion of the night, men would approach us about joining a men's group and unfortunately we had nothing to offer. MOJC focuses on organizing events and evangelization toward men but we do not have a core weekly meeting. So we decided to offer a monthly meeting with a men's group flare entitled "virtuocity unplugged". It's an open invitation for men to come together and talk about virtue. We have realized that being a man of Jesus Christ in a culture that promotes so much evil, we needed to sharpen our virtues, and what better way than to do it with other men. If we sit back as men and watch the culture indoctrinate the world with evil such as abortion, pornography, the elimination of traditional marriage, the acceptance of gay marriage, contraception, pre-marital sex, and a myriad of other destructive behaviors, this world will collapse. Look at the divorce rate or how many children have been killed due to roe vs. wade based on inconvenience. These evils need to be met with strong men to fight back. Think of this analogy as a christian man: you are in a canoe and you are traveling upstream toward your destination, the harder you paddle the harder it is to move forward but you are seeing forward progress. The moment you stop paddling or quit, you will be pushed backwards further away from your destination. The devil will always be fighting against the truth of God, and if we stop moving and fighting toward it, we fall back in the current which never stops moving.
An men of Jesus Christ we protest pornography shops and abortion clinics in the WNY area and we are calling all men to join us. When you stand up against evil you start to realize the power you have built into your heart. The fire that erupts when fighting a battle such as protesting a porn shop will invigorate the soul of a man. Please check back often to see when and where MOJC will be protesting next.
